This article is designed to help you with common issues/failures that may happen when automatically deploying the Hyper-V Host agents through the Altaro Management Console. Here you can find a list of common failures when we install the Altaro Hyper-V Host Agent and how to fix each failure.
The Hyper-V host machine should have the full .NET 4.7.2 installation
Altaro VM Backup requires .NET Framework 4.7.2 to be installed on each host machine. Make sure .NET Framework is installed; if not, you can find the installation by following the link How to Download and Install .NET Framework.
The Hyper-V host system and Altaro server have a time offset.
Correct the time and time zone of both the Hyper-V host and Altaro VM backup server.
To manually install the Altaro Hyper-V Host Agent on the Hyper-V Host, please follow the below steps.
Installing Altaro VM Backup
To download the Altaro Hyper-V Host Agent installer, visit the Altaro Website.
Copy the downloaded Altarovmbackupsetup_hostagent file over to the Hyper-V host system that you wish to backup.
Install Altaro Hyper-V Host Agent
Launch the setup file to install the Altaro Hyper-V host agent.
Altaro VM backup setup Welcome screen of the installer; click next.
Accept the license, and then click Next.
Altaro VM Backup will be installed in the Program Files folder; click next.
Ready to install the Hyper-V host agent? Click Install.
Once the Altaro Hyper-V host agent installation is done, you will see the successful installation screen.
Once the Altaro host agent is installed, go back to the machine running Altaro Hyper-V Backup, open the Altaro Management Console, and then go to the host screen
Under Hyper-V host agent, click on the install button and then enter administrator credentials. The Altaro Hyper-V Host Agent application will be detected immediately.
