In this easy article, I will explain how to install EasyNAS storage using VMware Workstation or VMware Player. We can configure RAID Storage, CIFS, and NFS services on EasyNAS storage. I just installed EasyNAS, an open-source distribution for NAS systems. It is pretty similar to FreeNAS storage, with some differences. EasyNAS is a simple, lightweight, and powerful NAS system. I am not going to compare EasyNAS software with other NAS systems, such as FreeNAS. EasyNAS features the main utility of Network Attached Storage. It comes with some light features, but for home use and a small office, this should be sufficient.

What is EasyNAS?
EasyNAS is a storage administration system for homes or small offices. You can manage EasyNAS through a web-based interface. EasyNAS’s advanced features include file system compression, snapshots, copy-on-write, online balancing data between hard drives, an online increase/decrease file system, and an online file system check. It also supports file sharing across multiple operating systems.

Install EasyNAS Storage
EasyNAS will perform a clean install and format the whole disk on your device. Since it only needs a small amount of storage, you can use your USB drive to install EasyNAS storage. Also, you can use your existing hard drive as well. The installation is straightforward and doesn’t require any user intervention during the installation.
Click on Install EasyNAS.
Destroying all data, click yes.

After installation, you will see the below menu on the screen. You will need to change the EasyNAS admin password in order to access the web interface.
I like the simple dashboard of EasyNAS storage. Enter a username and password to login with EasyNAS storage.
